Macayo's...good food, great drinks, wonderful staff
Mothers' Day afternoon found the family (12 altogether) celebrating at Macayo's on Bell just west of Reems.
For those of us old enough to partake in the joys of adult beverages there was plenty of Corona, frozen margaritas and, my personal favorite, Petron tequila on hand.

Having enjoyed my fair share of said beverages, perhaps I'm not entirely qualified to comment on the taste and quality of the meal, but here goes anyway...

I had the shrimp-stuffed Anaheim pepper, a choice that I had not known existed prior to this visit. I have had chile relleno stuffed with shrimp in the past, but the egg mixture tended to detract from the flavor of the shrimp and the pepper.

Let me just say that my taste buds were dancing with joy at the subtle clash between the various ingredients. The pepper was just spicy enough to bring out the exquisite taste of shrimp cooked just right. The black beans accompanying the meal were absolutely wonderful.

The wait staff gushed over us without being overbearing. We were a handful too, demanding at least 3 seperate checks, multiple trips for chips and salza, and who knows what else. They served us with dignity and grace, not to mention a healthy dose of good humor.

All in all, I must say the visit was memorable (in spite of the multiple adult beverages), and we will be returning at some future date not too distant.

Way to go Macayo's!
